The Fall and Rise of Dakota Blue

Paragon Sentinel, by Devon Humes The Jupiter Foundation announced today a new member would be entering the ranks of the Paragon office. Hired by Dr. Colt to oversee activities in the western mountain regions of the country, controversial bounty hunter Dakota Blue has been called up to help out in the besieged Paragon City.

After aiding actress Autumn Jones during an abduction case involving the actresses' son, Dakota Blue jumed to fame as a guest on the Tonight Show in 1998. Winning over the host with her no-nonsense cowgirl style, blue skin, athletic good looks, and rough humor Dakota enjoyed several more interviews and guest appearances. She was in the middle of negotiations for a reality TV show featuring her career when she assaulted controversial news reporter Emanual Miller in late 1999 during his investigation of bounty hunters and their practices. Eventually settled out of court but widely believed by many to be justified, the assault still damaged her reputation and her TV show was canceled in pre-production.

Finally, in 2003, the Jupiter Foundation hired her as a permanent agent after her assistance in a missing person's case in the Colorado Rockies. Since then she has also continued her bounty hunting career on the side while also troubleshooting for Dr. Colt in the mountainous area.

Long thought to be a mutant because of startling blue skin, toughness, and agility, Dakota Blue says she is not. Due to a condition believed to be linked to methemoglobinemia, a rare blood disorder, Dakota has always had the azure skin which she uses as her working code name. Born and raised on a horse ranch in Colorado which has been in her family since 1872, Dakota believes her blue skin is a gift and has stated repeatedly in interviews that, "it caused people to treat me differently and the result is it taught me how to be tough. The rest of what I can do? That's just due to good ol' fashioned practice."

One of the stumbling blocks of hiring on with the Jupiter Foundation was that she had to retool her typical way of doing things. "I'd wanted to try some less lethal methods of bringing in fugitives but I couldn't afford it. Life after '99 had been pretty rough. Max refitted my weapons for me at first and then eventually gave me a whole new rifle complete with rubber bullets and a mix of concussive and beanbag shotgun rounds."

The process was anything but safe. "He gave me this lightning gun once based on some taser tech he was working on. I tried to bring in Buffalo Jim with it and the durn cuss laughed it off, took it away from me, and hit me with it. Luckily, when he tried to use it on me in return the fool done blew his hand off."

"We're pleased to have Dakota with us here in Paragon," Dr. Colt stated outside the Steel Canyon University. "She's a good fighter to bring to this battle and her experience is desperately needed."

In the News...

--Published in HeroWatch Magazine-- Its been a busy week for Dr. Colt and his Jupiter Foundation as they repeatedly launched into the defense of Paragon City against the Rikti invasion. Undaunted by his earlier trip to the hospital with moderate wounds, Dr. Colt and the Irregulars once again lept into the action. Seen in the action was Dr. Colt's new android design. Named Vex Colt, the android was impressive and effective against the continual waves of Rikti troops.

"Vex is working smoothly," commented Colt, "I was originally worried that Vex might not stand up to the sustained damage from the Rikti weaponry but my fears have been discounted." Other members of the Irregulars have been just as active, standing shoulder to shoulder with Dr. Colt against the dimensional invaders.

Shortly before the declaration from Vanguard that the Rikti had retreated, announcement came from the Jupiter Foundation concerning the organization's status in Paragon. With paperwork being held up during the invasion, City Representative Brighid Moreira helped push it through the necessary channels. This week brought the announcement that the Foundation was finally an accredited supergroup and registered with the FBSA. Dr. Colt, taking a break between invasion waves, arrived personally to receive the documents.

"We've done our work unofficially all across the globe for years. With our American offices now being based in Paragon, it was time to make it official. We're glad to be here, working with a city full of talented and capable individuals."

AP WIRE, Paragon City, Rhode Island. The Jupiter Foundation was seen hitting the streets of King's Row on Tuesday evening. The Irregulars were quick to respond to a kidnapping of one of Dr. Colt's associates by the Hellions, a Dr. Jessie McClain. It is unknown at this time why the Hellions focused on Dr. McClain or what their intentions might have been. In a brief report to the press, Dr. Colt and his highly efficient team hit the Hellion's warehouse base and pulled Dr. McClain quickly out of danger. Irregular Charlatan Grey quickly escorted Dr. McClain out to a waiting Jupiter Foundation hover unit while the rest of the Irregulars dealt with the few remaining Hellions.

Dr. McClain, who hold her doctorate in psychology, is reported as being in fine condition and will be returning to her lab on Monday.

Colt Back To Duty

AP -- Paragon City, Rhode Island. Dr. Maxwell Colt of the Jupiter Foundation was reported back to duty after he was found unconscious following a vicious Rikti attack two days ago. Suffering from several lacerations and a four broken ribs while defending several citizens against the alien attack. Dr. Colt was rushed to the nearby Atlas Park hospital in secrecy. The Jupiter Foundation released a statement this morning that Colt was indeed taken to the hospital but then transfered to the medical facilities of the Jupiter Foundation for further recovery.

Seen in the common area of City Hall yesterday evening, Dr. Colt gave an impromptu interview. "I really took on more then I should but that's what heroes do, right?" Colt went on to explain the situation further, "I was the only one in the area and those kids were not going to make it to shelter. I think things would have been fine if the plasma exchanger in my gauntlets had not misfired. Luckily, thats fixed now."

"My warmest thanks to the staff at Atlas Park Hospital and the quick thinking of Longbow Agent Jennings for her quick thinking in the field."

In regards to the current invasion he had the following to say, "I won't kid you, or tell you what the government wants me to say. I think they're here for awhile. Can we defeat them? Yes. Tomorrow? No."

The Jupiter Foundation's members, an international cast impressive in their skills on and off the superhero scene and fondly called the Irregulars by some, have been seen more and more in the streets of Paragon City lately. According to most sources close to the Jupiter Foundation, that presence will be continuing for the foreseeable future.
